The thin steel floating shelves in the kitchen were a happy design accident. "We originally planned for a wooden shelving system, but when the steel brackets were installed we fell in love with them and they stayed," says Murdock. "We custom milled a tongue in groove finish to the barnwood to add warmth and interest to the shelving area."
