A freelance TV producer relocating to a Harlem brownstone apartment with a 1990's renovation needed an update. Aesthetic influences are Asian and French and there was a need for a home office/dining area, a more interesting bathroom, a more functional kitchen and less dark wood. The formerly U-shaped kitchen became a galley kitchen with a sparkly glass floral tile backsplash and blue-grey cabinets up to the high ceilings. A dark wood mantel was painted a cream color, and a custom wood trestle dining table now serves double-duty for entertaining and working. The bath became a cool, grey oasis of marble floor tile, a glass shower screen, new vanity and Sheila Bridges' Harlem Toile du Jouy wallpaper in "Dove". A red Chinese console table and Chinoiserie patterned fabric on the living roman shades add decorative interest.
