The original home was a low slung corner ranch, typical of South Land Park in Sacramento. The roofline was simplified and the ceilings were raised to create a light-filled and modern home for a young family. The garage was reclaimed as a mudroom and guest suite and a cold and dark storage were turned into a rumpus room where the large extended family full of children can rumpus loudly while the adults visit in the expanded kitchen/family space. What had been a jumble of small, dark interior spaces is now two large spaces.
