BRIDGE TO THE LAKE HOUSE

Environment:
The land is located on top of a mountain in front of the Rio Tercero Reservoir Lake. It has a steep slope that, in turn, is traversed in the middle by the deep track formed by the runoff of rainwater that descends from the top in wet seasons, forming a valley and two peaks. As a result, the challenge posed by the terrain is to be able to “tie” this geographical feature, connecting both points of the terrain, prioritizing views and orientation.

Use:
Functionally, the project is essentially a permanent-use home for a family of 5, so we aim to achieve greater accessibility and flexibility of social environments, guaranteeing full use over time. The main idea was to manage to transfer the benefits of a “flat” home within a medium that proposed, a priori, the opposite. We consider that the entire house should be able to be resolved in a noble plane, connecting the street with the different functions, flown over the valley of the land.

For this, two large exposed concrete boxes, which act as a deposit, cellar and services, finish constituting the summits, supporting a plane that flies in the form of a bridge over the central valley, supporting all the functions of daily use. . The sequence of use is linear and goes from the outside (pedestrian and vehicular entrance), entering the social areas as the center and distributing the services to one side (kitchen, laundry deposit) and to the other the private and night areas (3 bedrooms , bathroom, suite with bathroom and dressing room). The rest of the program is completed with a barbecue on the upper floor, crowning the views and taking advantage of the entire deck as a terrace / patio, and galleries towards the lake on its entire rear face.

Character:
Aesthetically, we tried to achieve pure and clear forms, working both with material plans for the social and open areas, as opposed to heavy and blind boxes in which we sought greater privacy.

As a result, the house is heavy on its front façade, a product of the blind box that supports the garage and the barbecue area, while, on its rear face, it is completely open to the views, seeking to highlight its horizontal character.

The materials were chosen for their stony feel and low maintenance, and for this we opted for exposed concrete formwork in boards, thick floated plasters, glass carpentry distributed in aluminum and finishes in local stone.
