The penthouse is located in the Justicia neighborhood, known for its art galleries, up-and-coming furniture stores and vivid day and night life. The main intention of the project was to create an oasis of calm where its owners could recharge and breathe. Where the protagonists are space, light and material texture.

The renovation was focused on both the preservation of the historic character of the apartment, built in 1900, and the inclusion of sculptural art and furniture pieces that contrasted with the classic frame. All elements that could be restored have been maintained: steel columns from the beginning of the XX century that were hidden behind walls, wrought iron balcony balustrades and interior and exterior wooden shutters among others. All moldings and architectural details have been designed to conceal the apartment’s installations (air-conditioning, radiant floors, appliances or even the powder room).

The layout divides the apartment into day and night areas and positions the kitchen at the center of the home. The day areas are open and connected, with sliding floor to ceiling doors that can be both concealed inside the structural walls, and allow for different spatial configurations around the kitchen. The night areas, have been designed to maximize privacy and storage space.

The material palette is articulated around natural wood and stone. Every room has a different oak floor pattern designed to both highlight spatial continuity and add a special identity to each space. The kitchen contrasts clean, sharp lines and hidden storage with natural, bookmatched, Volakas marble. Bathrooms are designed with Campaspero limestone quarried in Spain and Vola faucets.
