Barbican Beach Club by Gretchen
From undefined
Barbican Beach Club is Gretchen Andrew's studio located in London's historic Barbican Estate. While Warhol's "Factory" brought a glorification of work and industrial processes into the studio, Gretchen's "Barbican Beach Club" celebrates luxury and leisure as part of the artistic process and community. Known for her playful hacks on major art world and political institutions, her Barbican Beach Club plays with the utopian vision and brutally dystopian reality of the historic building's original intentions and motivations. Art, code, and glitter lead double lives as chandeliers, vintage champagne glasses, and candelabra are encased in the concrete spaces originally designed by shipbuilders.
