- Sam Frost
DKD LTD. furnished this project for a young, contemplative business executive. He is an avid gourmet who entertains often, and who also enjoys his solitude. The open floor plan was ideal for his chosen activities as it presented many comfortable places to sit, both in group and solitary settings. DKD designed additional custom furniture to rhyme with the client's impressive Modern Art collection. The aesthetic clearly suggested a selection of mid-century modern Scandinavian and Italian pieces, i.e. the rosewood console in the Living Room and the accompanying light fixture, respectively. As the indoor / outdoor aspect of California living was inherent in the siting and architecture, the furniture plan placed a premium on providing ample opportunities for the house's inhabitants to contemplate the picturesque landscape.
