Barry Milosky of M2A Architects designed the kitchen cabinetry to follow Soriano's style. He even included a recessed drawer pull that was speciall -designed by Soriano for the Lukens House. The stainless-steel countertops are similar to ones Richard Neutra, Soriano's teacher, used in many of the homes he designed.

The home sits on a 0.44-acre lot in downtown Los Angeles, sited within the grounds of the Lyndsay Mansion’s garden. Soriano removed only four trees from the property. In fact, a 1908 tangerine tree still produces a stellar crop every year.

Mike Chapman, an affiliate agent with the Los Feliz office of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, has listed a Los Angeles Cultural Monument property designed by Raphael Soriano for $1,985,000. Located at 3425 West 27th St. in Los Angeles, the three-bedroom, two-bathroom and approximately 1,491-square-foot home was designed by minimalist Southern California architect Raphael Soriano, a student of Richard Neutra, for noted ceramicist Glen Lukens, one of the founders of Arts and Architecture magazine in 1940.

“The Lukens House, one of Los Angeles’s premier international style homes, will hit the market in early March,” said Chapman. “I purchased the property in 2010 and painstakingly restored the condemned home and gardens. Designated Los Angeles Cultural Monument No. 886 in 2007, it has received more awards for preservation than any home in California from organizations like Los Angeles Conservancy, California Preservation Foundation and the Los Angeles Business Council.”

Situated in the historic Jefferson Park, the property is on nearly half an acre of landscaped grounds that were originally the garden of West Adams’s Lyndsay Mansion. The home showcases Bauhaus design elements such as a flat roof, large overhung eaves and ribbon band steel frame windows. A 1908 glass greenhouse has been restored and repurposed as a dining pavilion. The home also features a private parking area for vehicles, event set up, caterers or film trucks.
