An Exhibit on Italian Designer Ettore Sottsass Highlights His Colorful Work and Rebellious Ways

By Jennifer Baum Lagdameo / Published by Dwell
While Italian architect and designer Ettore Sottsass is best known for his work with the Memphis Group throughout the 1980s, his prolific career actually spanned more than six decades, resulting in a number of highly influential designs that still resonate today.
A seminal figure in 20th-century design, Sottsass (1917–2007) is now the subject of a retrospective exhibition at The Met Breuer in New York City titled Ettore Sottsass: Design Radical (running through October 8, 2017), which looks at Sottsass’ career through his key pieces.
