Yum Yum Farm

Set amidst cornfields and a future organic farm, this small house evokes traditional forms while giving them a modern twist. The interior features fir flooring salvaged from an Amish farmhouse, deep red plywood panels normally used for concrete formwork, recycled plumbing fixtures, and modern furniture.

Overlapping spaces are designed to make what is a small house work and feel like a bigger one. A slatted wall allows light into the bedroom and provides a flexible framework for storage cubes. Sliding fabric panels allow the enclosed porch to be used for dining or overflow sleeping. A loft overlooking the main living space and views of the farm serves as office space. The interior palette includes salvaged wood and recycled rubber flooring, pre-finished concrete formboards, local limestone, galvanized steel, and a pale easter-egg blue translucent laminate.
