It also saved money during the construction process, as the minimal glazing cost a lot less than floor-to-ceiling windows. “It lets you enjoy the spectacular views without breaking the bank,” Dworkind says.

Set in a beautiful stretch of fjord country about 250 miles northwest of Oslo, the Juvet Landscape Hotel is the kind of place you could not even dream up. The minimalist design of the Juvet's rooms bring guests into close contact with the Valldola River and the sublime valley beyond it.

A steady rhythm of interior columns supports the simple framework. Architect Ron Rea created a lighting solution on the columns which appears as though it was always there.

The indoor-outdoor connection can also be enjoyed in the bedrooms.

The master suite was inserted where the carport used to be.

The open chef’s kitchen boasts Carrara marble countertops, Viking appliances, and flows into a light-infused dining area.

The elegant white-stucco living room is accented with exposed wood beams and anchored by a wood-burning fireplace.
