Architect Thaddeus Longstreth worked on the Kaufmann House before building this post-and-beam brick home surrounded by wooded paths in New Jersey.

Designer Peter Steere took down the pitched roof and wrapped the home in metal cladding reminiscent of rural barns.

Walls and closet doors are wrapped in the same flat-planked pine used throughout, and the bed covering is the Studio Ford 'Toledo Quilt.'

The white oak bench seating wraps a vintage wood table found on Offer Up. The custom cushions are by Legacy Custom Upholstery in Perennials 'Raffia' fabric in Geranium Red. The wall light is the Schoolhouse 'Gantry Pivot Sconce.'

Emily purchased the used Brizo Odin faucet in chrome on Offer Up, and a new Brizo Odin beverage faucet to match. The sconce above the window is vintage and the counters are honed Basaltina ($2,934.38).

The studio, which dates back to the 1960s, was previously a lackluster, white-walled space with a cabinet-cluttered entry.

Blue Sky Building Systems worked with CB Architecture to create a modern home for a family of four in Orinda, California.

The architect brought the solid walls of certain rooms down to 7’ 8”, filling the remaining 4’ 2” with glass. This defining feature allows sunlight penetrate deep into the core of the space. The clients say the bright reds, oranges, and yellows of sunsets race across the ceiling and white walls.
