Architecture and interior photographer Marc Gerritsen went back to basics when he designed this minimalist concrete house that you can rent through Airbnb.

The house was designed to glow like a lantern at twilight.

"In response to the brief and the tapered shape of the site, we started off with two pavilions that ran parallel to the northern and southern boundaries. This approach resulted in an overlap of both structures. The intersecting part of the north wing was sliced off and made space for the central entrance and foyer. This naturally developed roof form is a contextual response to the outstanding alpine landscape" Daniel says.

Not only was extra living space necessary for the growing family of four, but the existing house also failed to take advantage of the striking views that drew the couple to the site. The homeowners tapped architect Malcolm Davis of San Francisco–based Malcolm Davis Architecture to redesign and expand the dwelling without damaging the many established oak trees.
