The backsplash is covered in Clé Tile, and the counters are Carrara marble.

Light from a new skylight pours into the home's entryway and living room. Steel columns and beams were added for structural reinforcement, and the couple left all beams, old and new, exposed.

A skylight brings light down through the enlarged stair opening. The door is original and was hand stripped by the owner. Wood floors are form Vermont Plank Flooring and were finished on-site. Daybed was built by the owner.

Spanning a mere 11 feet, this Brooklyn row house known as Little House, Big City has been strategically transformed to accommodate the needs of a young family of four.

"The narrowness of the house required the design to make effective yet frugal uses of space," explains the firm. "Precise positioning of walls, doors, and windows were crucial as each floor was planned to serve a purpose."

The first floor is a continuous public space featuring a dining area, kitchen, and living room.
