Surrounded by forest and accessed via a fairy-tale bridge, the resilient forever home showcases the strength of cross-laminated timber.

Niki Bergen and two of her children run up the hill by the guesthouse she and her partner, Andrew Zuckerman, built on their upstate New York property. The structure was designed by Levenbetts, the architecture firm also responsible for the older main house nearby.

One of Amber’s favorite features in in the house is the splash of color in the kitchen backsplash, via a tile called 'Unfading' green slate from Vermont Structural Slate Company.

Amber preserved the beams at the ceiling and incorporated new JWeld windows and door units.

The siding received a coat of “Emerald Shore” by Sherwin Williams.

The design takes advantage of the naturally rising and falling topography to fill its lower level, a kind of non-basement, with natural light.

The reading nook corridor has a sizeable sliding glass door that pockets into more glass, with thresholds flush between the cork floors on the interior and the large format porcelain tile on the exterior. The center of the atrium is filled with raked 1/8” Desert Gold crushed granite.

A Jupe can be delivered and assembled within two weeks of deposit.

Bunkbeds by CasaKids free up functional space in the kids' bedroom.

Each of the four bedrooms feature floor-to-ceiling wooden doors and encased windows.

A staircase leads to the kitchen, outfitted with Ikea cabinets.

Like the other houses on the pedestrian-only street, their home comes right up to the pavement’s edge, but unlike any other, it greets passersby with a wide glass facade.

Made from birch plywood, the treehouse even comes with lighting and electrical.

The treehouse is shaped to allow light from two dormer windows to penetrate the otherwise windowless attic space.

The guest room is part of the addition off the kitchen, and can act as an ADU when necessary.

aesarstone counters in the kitchen, which best highlights the homes mix of light and wood. White conversion varnish was used on the sink side of the island for durability, with wood on the side of entertainment.

Sliding doors by Quantum were made to look like the original panes that couldn't be saved, and they lead to a fire pit outside.
