The Millennial Tiny House was designed by Build Tiny, who have built more than 12 tiny homes in 2018.

The enlarged garage and the new ADU addition comprise 750 square feet in total.

The couple finished the exterior siding with shingles made of Hardie board and painted a deep purple. "We wanted an exterior cladding that was durable, low-maintenance, and relatively DIY-friendly," says Michael. "When looking at our options at the local hardware store, the fish-scale shape popped because it was unique, quirky, and not super serious—and yet could create a contemporary look through uniformly using it with woven corners and minimal detailing."

Marilyn Monroe is said to have stayed in the charming guesthouse.

For the exterior, the architects have chosen materials that "comply with the Bushfire Attack Level of 19," they explain, including bushfire resistant wood and zincalume metal. The cabin collects its own rainwater—storage tanks are underground for an uncluttered look—and the roof sports solar panels.

Energy-efficient LED lighting and a rainwater collection system round out the home's sustainable features.
