Tiny Bedrooms

A pair of windows shed a bit of light in the bedroom, which boasts a lofted bed and workspace with a sink and closet beneath. The sink is by Lacava and the tap is from Fluid Faucet's Wisdom line.

This renovated apartment in Barcelona plays with subtle color contrasts, such as the chromatic tile mosaics and the blond wood used for sliding doors and benches.

Goolrick designed sliding partitions that when closed still allow light to flow through her 560-square-foot space, and when opened reveal cocoonlike sleeping quarters.

The architect chose glass to segment space because it takes up fewer centimeters than constructed walls, thus helping the room feel larger. Curtains can be drawn closed for privacy. The bed and side table are custom, while the pendant light is from Exclusive Lighting.

In a 495-square-foot attic in the Söder neighborhood of Stockholm, interior designer Jimmy Schönning carved out a sweet and stylish home. His diminutive studio is chockablock with creative storage solutions (built-in closets; a washer and drier hidden under a workbench in the bathroom) and loads of personality. In the tiny sleeping loft is a platform bed with two drawers beneath it.

Because of the low ceiling height, Hasegawa designed a table and selected chairs with an equally low height, 660 mm and 360 mm respectively (about two feet and one foot). By installing a glass plate underneath the glass-top dining table, clients can have a real top-to-bottom experience of the forest.

Each bedroom is designed to replicated a mini house, and follows the roof's pitch. A skylight lets in light. A custom unit made of white-painted MDF panels provides necessary storage.
