Things to See at ICFF 2014 and NYC Design Week

Find Egg Collective, a trio of designers from St. Louis who are now based in Brooklyn, at ICFF in booth #1326 debuting new pieces like the Wu side table shown here.

Artist Edward Granger created a special piece for Bend wherein he wrapped a powder-coated metal chair with geometric thread patterns. See the modified Lucy chair at Bend's booth at ICFF, #2122.

Los Angeles studio Scout Regalia will be bringing its cheerful aesthetic to the Javits Center with new pieces including a cherry red SR Windsor Chair and the small spaces-friendly SR Foldable Table. The studio's Services Lean-To (shown here), a collaboration with Reunion Goods, is also now available through CB2. Booth #2451

New York lighting design studio Rich Brilliant Willing has gone from emerging to powerhouse in the last few years. The RBW trio presents two new designs, the modular Palindrome series and a collection of paper lanterns called Mori, to the Javits Center. You can also catch them at Sight Unseen's Offsite exhibition. Booth #1826

One Collection, a Danish company who is faithfully reissuing old Finn Juhl pieces, will introduce the Silver table (shown here, and originally designed in 1948 for Juhl's home), the 1940 Pelican table, and the Egyptian chair from 1949. Javits Center, Booth 1411

Uhuru, a Red Hook-based sustainable furniture company, will show at Javits for ICFF. See their new mix-and-match Essentials collection at booth 1448.

New York City architect Andrew Franz introduces his first furniture collection, otto by andrew franz, at ICFF. See the multifunctional, affordable collection in booth #801 at the Javits Center.

Table light by Rosie Li Sight Unseen founders Jill Singer and Monica Khemsurov first exhibited Li in 2011 at Noho Design District.

We love Debra Folz's Braided table series (which comprise bright leather cords woven around the rim of tables in varying sizes). But that's not the only cool thing you'll see at this year's WantedDesign exhibition: Bernhardt Design's Carrot Concept returns, along with Alessi Design Lab (more on that here), an Areaware and Parsons collaboration, and a Pacific Northwest designers installation curated by GRAY magazine and former Dwell-er Jaime Gillin. The Tunnel, located on 11th Avenue between 27th and 28th Streets

Moroso is bringing Bikini Island by Werner Aisslinger to WantedDesign; Patrizia Moroso will speak with the designer and the founder of the Bikini Hotel in Berlin for which this piece was originally created.

Jamie Gray's MatterMade label will be all over New York this design week: Gray's own lighting collection debuts at ICFF alongside new pieces by Jonathan Zawada and new developments for the HS1 shelving system by Henry Julier (shown here). Lighting designer Bec Brittain with Hilda Hellstrom will exhibit at the store, on 405 Broome Street. Booth #1321 (Check out MatterMade, for sale in the Dwell Store.)

INSIDENORWAY, a curated selection of design prototypes from emerging Norwegian designers, returns to the ICFF in 2014 with new blankets by Røros Tweed, and sandblasted, blown-glass Dew vases by Kristine Five Melvær (shown here). Tribeca's Brazilian design gallery, Espasso, is launching re-editions of rare pieces by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer (like this Rio rocking chaise) as well as Jorge Zalszupin. 38 N. Moore Street, open M-F 10am - 6pm, Sat: 12pm - 5pm

Designjunction returns to New York with the second annual Intro/NY which assembles a dozen international design companies including Castor Design, from Toronto; Modus, from Great Britain; Scandinavian company Muuto, based in Copenhagen; Resident, from New Zealand; and MASSPRODUCTIONS, from Sweden, who will introduce its new Anyway sofa (shown here). 201Mulberry Street

MoMA Design Store joins NYCxDesign with a retail collection comprising designs that began life on Kickstarter, the crowdsourced funding website. You can find the pieces at MoMA Store's bricks-and-mortar shop at 81 Spring Street. (See other Dwell-approved Kickstarter projects here.)
