The home's unique blend of modern and barn design is defined by the vertical and horizontal siding patterns that emulate the feel of a classic New England Barn. The locally sourced stone is very natural and harkens to traditional stone foundations of the area.
Modern touches include sleek trim detailing, clean lines in the windows, frosted glass paneled garage doors and dark stained wood awning over the garage.
The covered porch makes for a stunning outdoor living space that is very suited for life in New England. This porch is generous in scale and extends off the open concept living areas of the Kitchen and Family room of the home. An outdoor entertainment system with surround sound and a television, built for outdoor use from SunBrite TV, makes this a great gathering space.
A soaring twenty-two foot ceiling defines the entrance foyer of this home. Floor to ceiling windows and glass doors allow sunlight to stream into the space. At night illumination comes from frosted glass LED light panels that form the ceiling adding to the drama.
Further adding to the drama of this entrance foyer is the pendant from Hubbardton Forge. It's modern and sculptural appeal is a true showstopper for the entire home.
The living room is positioned just off the foyer with two steps down to give it extra interest and to further define the formal space without loosing the open flow of the home. The fireplace surround is accented with shiplap styling and a rich soapstone firebox. The flooring is sustainably harvested white oak grown locally in Connecticut and finished with a zero-VOC finish of beeswax and linseed oil from Rubio Monocoat.
The open concept kitchen shares space with the Family room and views out to the covered porch. The cabinets are from Häcker and feature contrasting colors of white for the perimeter and a beach-wood finish on the island and pantry wall. The counters are ultra-compact material from Dekton with the permitter in a soapstone color with leather finish while the island features a dazzling smooth white color. The kitchen also features energy-efficient Miele appliances and a dedicated beverage fridge.
Special touches in this space include a full-size sink in the island to make meal prep and entertaining that much easier and a custom made barn door made from salvaged barn wood. The barn door serves as a generous passage to the dining room that can be easily closed for more formal occasions.
Opposite of the kitchen in the open concept heart of the home is the family room complete with surround sound and television for an evening of movies. Expansive windows and double french doors lead to the covered porch. The fireplace features stacked stone used around the property forming a design connection between the outside landscape and interior of the home.
On either side of the fireplace in the family room are cozy nooks that cleverly hide the surround sound system. Automatic shades powered by the Crestron home automation system lend to a long list of lifestyle enhancements this home was built around.
The generously sized master bedroom is large enough for a king size bed and sitting area. Dual exposure windows let in tons of natural light while the cove ceiling adds height and visual interest to the space.
The master suite includes a gorgeous bath with heated floors, a luxurious soaking tub, and oversized shower with built in waterproof speakers. The cabinets that make up the vanity were extended slightly for the sinks allowing for visual interest and extra counter space behind the faucets.
The mirror lined medicine cabinets provide amble space and are accented with strips of reclaimed barn wood carrying through the modern barn theme of the home.
