Summer Teak Products We Love
Known for its durability and water resistance, teak is a tropical hardwood commonly used in outdoor furniture. The wood features a high oil content, tensile strength, and a tight grain, making it a versatile material. Over time, teak can develop a silvery grey patina, or can be re-oiled to maintain its rich golden luster. Check out these seven teak furnishings and accessories from the Dwell Store.
Crafted from rich teak, the Fionia Folding Stool is a practical accent piece that can be used as a side table or, in a pinch, an extra place to sit. The stool is constructed with hinges so it is easy to fold and transport to a new location, or put away in storage. The clean design of the stool allows it to blend in to a variety of spaces, both indoors and out. Also available in a black finish.
The Kryss Chair from Skargaarden was designed for the Swedish Embassy in 1975. It features a foldable teak frame and a fabric seat and back. The inspiration for the chair was from the discovery of folding chairs in King Tut’s ancient tomb. The Kryss series also includes a folding table, available at the Dwell Store.
The Oxnö Dining Table is crafted in a warm teak and can sit two people comfortably for dinner, or can be used as a cocktail table to seat four. The table can be oiled once a year to retain the rich teak color, or left alone to develop a silvery grey patina over time. Skargaarden’s Oxnö series also includes an armchair.
A beautifully designed version of the classic lawn game, Pétanque—a French version of Italy's bocce—the Akiko Petanque set includes a set of six chrome boule balls and a target ball, packaged in a teak box for storing and carrying the game. The box has a hinged cover with a rectangular cut-out, so the teak handle can be used when the box is closed.
