POUSSE CREATIVE'S PET HOUSES Designers Sebastian Haquet and Thomas Lanthier have a decidedly modern take on shelters for pets. Their Lille-based company, Pousse Creative, was founded in 2010 with a chicken run designed for suburban environments and quickly grew to encompass a complete line of modern dwellings for rabbits, cats, dogs, and birds.

Though the style options for four-legged consumers haven't necessarily caught up with the design industry for the toddler set, there's more to pet pampering than doggie couture. Jon Santos, founder of the New York-based graphic design studio Common Space, created a canine camp shelter that does dog design right.

MODKAT LITTER BOX It can be tough to find the right place in the home for traditional litter boxes, which can be a little big, a bit untidy (no matter how fastidious your feline), and, well, just not too nice to look at. ModKat made its debut at ICFF this year and the thoughtful design makes a huge difference; The cat enters through the top, which opens up floor space and allows any stray kernals to fall back in as the kitty climbs out, and reusable liners eliminate the need for disosables.
