A strong believer that homes should harmoniously merge with their natural surroundings ("of it, not on it"), Fred Hollingsworth aimed to articulate such vision with his Neoteric collection of homes. This includes the Lantern House, which appears to rise from the North Vancouver slopes.

The covered loggia in the lush backyard provides plenty of space for outdoor entertaining.

Built in 2022, the home features a Cypress and Cedar exterior and flat-lined roof, inspired by modern Balinese architecture.

The project, known as the Boulder Bridge House, is just down the hillside from Bruce and Connie's existing house.

Forty-seven years ago, Peter and Turkey Stremmel opened Stremmel Gallery, one of the first fine-art showplaces in Reno. They went on to exhibit work there by such luminaries as Wolf Kahn, Charles Arnoldi, and Phyllis Shafer. The same architect who designed the gallery, Mark Mack, designed their home, a cluster of colorful cubes in the mountains above the city.

Designed by TRIAS Studio, the Minima is offered in several basic models that can be expanded and altered. The home pictured above was designed through a 'Kit of Parts' approach that modified the smaller, original model to feature custom details and an additional 975 square feet of space.

A prototype of the Minima 1 is available to tour at FABPREFAB's manufacturing facility in Somersby, Australia.

To minimize energy use, the residence relies on natural ventilation for cooling. Heat is provided by an inflow hydronic tubing system. Note the guesthouse seen behind the bridge.

The clients encouraged the development of hemlock trees, which grow from the creek to the building site. They create a beautiful backdrop for the second story of the main building and deck overtop the master bedroom.
