Nato Studio added new lights to the already remodeled kitchen, including TK pendants over the island and sconces from Triple Seven. “For the lighting selections, we were looking for very natural materials that have a timeless feel, like brass and milk glass, as opposed to bringing in something that looked too contemporary,” says Cuttle.

The materials-forward primary bathroom features additional custom oak cabinetry and a thick marble countertop. Minimal hardware and a geometric overhead light are subtle yet sophisticated additions.

“My intention was to create a simple and inexpensive way to build a home with a high design concept that could also be built relatively quickly,” says Karcher. “It made sense to create a system for the build concept, employing a panelized structural design with prefabricated pieces and parts for rapid assembly.” Design aspects, like Inception Shades, are customizable yet modular enough to expedite installation.

As for the local boulders he placed around the house and terrace, he says, “They give the feeling that the house grew up around the outcroppings.”

The newly renovated interior is heavily inspired by coastal elements: the millwork and beams are whitewashed fir and represent sun-bleached driftwood. The aggregate floors have the look of a pebble beach. The stucco siding represents sand.
