"We composed the house to have its highest, brightest space in the middle," says Paul Raff. Warm wood stairs lead to the second floor, which houses guest bedrooms, bath, and a kitchenette for the family's frequent visitors.
With white polyurethane joinery and polished concrete floors, light bounces around the small space.
The family didn’t want to lose views of the property’s large pecan trees, which reach 30 to 40 feet tall. However one tree had to be cut down due to rot, which ultimately made it easier to transport the shed from one end of the backyard to the other during construction.
A bench seat in the hallway overlooks the central courtyard, emphasising the indoor/outdoor connection.
