Although we first discovered Weck glass jars a few years ago in tandem with the slow food movement, we have since learned that they have uses beyond their popularity in canning and preserving.

Weck, founded in Oflingen, Germany, at the turn of the 20th Century, helped introduce home-canning to Germany and beyond with its tightly sealed, rust-proof jars. However, the high-quality, air-tight containers are also perfect for storing grains, spices, and even a carafe of wine (Tip: You can store liquids horizontally in Weck jars, they won’t leak!).

Juice Jars, from $11.65 for a set of three.
Cylindrical Jars, from $15.75 for a set of six.
