“This was the first Annex house we have ever done,” LeBlanc says. “We’ve done a lot of work with existing buildings, and it’s actually a big part of our practice—but with this home there were many significant details worth protecting and restoring.”

The backyard BBQ area includes a sunken dining table.

The garden is by landscape designer Tom Massey. The paving is similar to the bricks used in the extension.

Also featuring large bifold doors, the home office located in the back of the property has been revamped to read as a mirror of the main house.

The copper-hued Caldera Cor-Ten gas fire pit from Paloform helps define a cozy outdoor gathering space, while engaging in cohesive dialogue with the corrugated Cor-Ten fence. Both will gracefully age over time, developing a maintenance-free natural patina.

Each room in the home has views to one of two courtyards or the roof garden. A window seat in the living room embraces the transition between interior and exterior.
