Open-Plan Apartments in Cities
More than an architectural necessity of living in an urban apartment building, open-plans can also lend otherwise cramped quarters a sense of airiness and fluidity.
When he's not poring over the blueprints for residential and commercial projects, architect Felippe Crescenti works in the theater and on film sets—and he brings his savoir-faire to this cozy two-bedroom apartment. The apartment's open-plan living area—and its picture windows facing a patch of tropical foliage—makes the space feel larger than it is. An Arco lamp complements a sofa by Micasa.
Barcelona-based architect Adrian Elizalde embarked on a renovation project for his family’s new apartment. His strategy was to inject some Scandinavian cool on a limited budget, using custom wood pieces and a sparse aesthetic to open things up. Lamps sourced from secondhand stores and a set of Belloch chairs by Santa & Cole are arrayed across the space.
