French interior designer Florence Deau is transforming one of Royan’s emblematic modernist buildings, the former city planning office, built by the architect Yves Salier in 1952. On the top floor, she's carved out a three-bedroom vacation apartment for a local wine merchant that’s a tribute to the ambience and history of Royan itself.

The Seattle office experienced rapid growth and required an expansion which involved taking over the majority of the floor plate they were inhabiting in their downtown location. The renovation presented the opportunity to experiment with workplace design for a diverse and creative group with a variety of workstyles. The design was also centered on creating a canvas that would showcase the work and creative process through a neutral and raw palette as a backdrop. The resulting design conveys a spirit of studio design and the experimentation of makers and builders.

The Tip Ton, designed by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby in 2011, defines a whole new chair typology: the solid plastic chair with forward-tilt action. Its name refers to the dual sitting positions provided by the chair – from a normal position, Tip Ton can be tilted forward a few degrees where the chair then stays in place. The forward-tilt position, until now the preserve of mechanical office chairs, straightens the pelvis and spine and thus improves circulation to the abdominal and back muscles.

When JAC Interiors was commissioned to revive an old 1,200-square-foot Hollywood home, the clients—a young couple who the designers call "fun and quirky"—requested the firm find a way to transform the space with as little construction as possible. The fireplace is a custom-made, three-dimensional feature that stands in stark contrast to the soft woods and white walls that make up the rest of the room.
