Thew renovated primary bedroom on the third floor feels perhaps more spacious than anywhere in the home, thanks to the vaulted ceiling and skylight.

The primary bedroom sits just off the stairwell landing. Built in bookshelves and storage are just beyond.

Beside the coffee bar in the kitchen, a work by Mike Saijo is displayed above a custom leather-upholstered banquette. The team chose soapstone for the island and the counter.

The false fireplace in Adam’s living room was constructed by carpenter Trevor Miles, then wrapped in travertine-style wallpaper from Belarte.

The apartment benefits from large windows, which combines with the light-toned oak and quartzite to create an apartment that glows.

Architect Fareez Giga believes custom cabinetry and shelving was not substantially more expensive than buying quality furniture, and advised to solicit multiple bids before selecting a millwork provider.

The existing black granite kitchen countertops were initally kept, but floor damage from an upstairs apartment's water leak prompted the couple, while choosing new floors, to also add white quartzite countertops.

The kitchen's white oak cabinetry was given oval-shaped brass handles from CB2.

The existing cabinetry was given new white oak doors, while an additional arched shelving unit was added, as well as an extended end cupboard that extended the islaand.

All the new built-in cabinetry floats a few inches off the ground and below the ceiling, adding light and shadow, so as not to make the 715-square-foot apartment feel confining.

A simple arch pattern was used throughout the apartment, adding subtle style to a simple material palette.

Phoenix plays with the family dog next to a vintage J-149 sofa by Erik Ole Jørgensen in the living area. The couple’s full-size bed is tucked behind semi-sheer curtains in the corner.
