The office is clad almost entirely in cork, which complements the oak that defines the scheme. “I want to cover everything in cork—there’s so much potential!” says interior designer Emily Lindberg.

The kitchen has matte-black cabinetry and a black faucet at the sink that create an understated, streamlined composition. A skylight provides additional light in the double-height space.

Smith worried about the galley kitchen. "I couldn't stop thinking, 'ugh, is this ok?' You only have one entrance and one exit, so once you're in there, you're trapped.

“I don’t paint landscapes when I’m here because I can’t compete with the natural beauty,” says Yael.
