The ADU bathroom is decked out in Farrow & Ball’s Churlish Green. “The team at Bestor are color experts,” says Kim. “If I were to try and do something that, it could go very wrong.”
Repurposed Douglas fir (leftovers from concrete formwork from the house build) was used on the ceiling, with a Velux skylight. The custom Douglas Fir bookshelf was designed and fabricated by Kevin, with a desktop made from salvaged pine by Vintage Mill Werks and a Hay stool.
Black Ikea cabinets and a leather honed black quartz countertop convey a moody vibe.
The same white oak flooring continues on this level, combined with built-in storage by Kevin, using Ikea cabinets with a custom natural oak countertop leading into the dressing room.
The cabinets are IKEA frames with 'BASIS Natural Oak’ fronts by Reform.
Kevin designed and fabricated the black walnut dining banquette. It sits with a ‘Corbett' table from Room & Board, Room & Board dining chairs, and a ‘TR Bulb Suspension Frame’ light by Tim Rundle.
Pardo used dark blue cabinetry and a matching painted ceiling to create a deliberately cave-like kitchen.
A blue checkered Moroccan rug amps up the visual interest in the space, along with a new yellow Togo couch and Herman Miller coffee table. Switching out the mullioned windows for new tilt-and-turn windows from Semko help the space feel larger and increase energy efficiency.
The pair’s art covers a cork wall where Eva Luna reads in a vintage Danish lounge chair.
There's no shortage of texture with a plethora of geometric forms including the repeating squares in the ceiling and walls throughout the home.
Leah selected light-diffusing sepia-toned reeded glass for some of the upper cabinets because "you can store anything inside and not see any distracting shapes or colors. It feels like old glass from an apothecary, and it ties together the warmth in the oak floor and walnut cabinetry."
Leah placed a mirror in the kitchen side splash to extend the space and reflect natural light from the front windows.
