Mudroom Laundry

Big Branch Woodworking and Lackey Construction fabricated the cabinetry throughout the home, including the birch built-ins in the mudroom, designed by Jessica Helgerson Interior Design. Each family member has his or her own cubby with storage for coats, shoes, hats and gloves, with built-in outlets for charging iPhones.

Lee Buchanan of Lee Build created a screen of white ash slats beside the kitchen as well as the entry. "The stairs are beautifully integrated into the kitchen so the kids and I are always talking and someone is always sitting on the bottom steps,

Ikea Pax cupboards are banked in the entryway, with birch-panel doors. A carpenter friend made the bench in the entryway; another friend painted it. Dark slate flooring in the entryway gives way to maple in the rest of the home, a beautiful contrast of materials.

On the other side of the wardrobe lies an office space.
