The main bedroom bookends the west side of the home and opens up to the outdoors via glass sliders on two sides.

Cutler designed the window in the couple’s bedroom to extend below floor level. “It’s almost like you can walk right into the view,” he says. The platform bed is from West Elm.

A simple material palette of wood and glass gives the house a warm, inviting feel.

In the bedroom, a custom tie-dyed wool blanket by Project Room lies on top of linens by Coyuchi. The large painting is by John Finneran, and the Eames chair is an heirloom from Lizz’s family. The space also features a Componibili Bio nightstand by Anna Castelli Ferrieri from Kartell, along with a “Katz Ramona, Katz Ramona, Katz Ramona” painting by John Finneran and an “Untitled” painting by Jennifer Boysen.

Behind the bathroom wall is the bedroom, which features sliding glass doors with access to a private deck.

Unsightly wires, electrical plugs, and chargers that accompany computers and entertainment systems can make your bedroom feel more like an office than a soothing snooze zone.

The main bedroom on the second floor takes advantage of the curtain wall's openness.

The original home was converted into a bedroom level, and given a second-story addition and roof deck. The dark exterior color, a charcoal-eggplant hue, lets the landscape colors stand out in contrast. “The existing house roof became the roof deck,” says Rogers. “And then I just shifted over the addition so that it floated over the landscape.”

The exterior’s dark cedar siding was extended into the stairwell to connect the indoors and outdoors.

Stairs lead up to the second floor. The project's minimalist materials highlight the collaboration between architect, designer and builder—achieving a look that also represents the client’s keen sense of modern minimalism.
