Modern Renovations in London

Whether dealing with historic neighborhoods or small footprints, the architects of these London renovations successfully created new, modern living spaces.

The living area is furnished with a marble table that Molineus designed, ringed with Series 7 chairs by Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen and bookended by a Mezzaluna Terra floor lamp by Bruno Gecchelin and a Spun chair by Thomas Heatherwick for Magis.

With the deliberate exception of its glass wall, the addition blends in seamlessly with the existing Victorian home. Its bricks were repurposed from the demolition process as were the windows for the upper level’s new bedroom.

Inside Out Architecture renovated an apartment in the Clerkenwell section of central London, removing interior walls to create an open, loft-like living space. The architects were taken in by the "dramatic geometry" of the existing board-formed concrete ceiling, and their design maintained and emphasized its dynamic criss-crosses and texture.
