Designer Sue Macintosh chose the Farrow & Ball Off-Black paint for the master bedroom.

Ritenour carved a window into an L-shaped wall to open the cramped master bedroom to a small, light-filled atrium (below). An unsightly structural beam was covered with wood to create a distinctive sunken bed.

Francesco and Mafalda’s bedroom is open and playful with only a bit of Algue by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec guarding the stairs. The lamp was designed by Francesco himself and the decal on the wall is from My Vinilo.

For now, one-year-old Awa is small enough to sleep in the hammock that hangs from the ceiling.

Four bedrooms occupy the bottom level. The beds are by Modernica and a Womb chair by Eero Saarinen sits in the corner.

In the bedroom, Tolomeo wall lamps from Artemide are mounted on both sides of the Astrid bed by Copeland. The coral Trellis duvet cover and pillow cases are by Trina Turk Residential.

With the house often open to the outside, dust easily drifts in. Fortunately, the concrete floor, speckled with white aggregate mix, is easy to clean.

The master bedroom sports a custom birch bed.

In the master bedroom, a pair of Artemide Tolomeo sconces bookend a Matchbox bed by Edwin Blue.

The path stops at the master bedroom, where a completely glazed end wall frames the wildflower clearing. “This pathway purposefully links together the architecture of internal rooms and outdoor spaces with discoveries of the site’s varied landscape,” the architects say.

Set atop a BoConcept bed, a graphic blanket by Pia Wallén for HAY punctuates the master bedroom. The sconces are by Robert Dudley Best for Bestlite.

“The clients contributed quite a few interesting pieces from their art collection, including photographs, a signed original bookstand prototype column by Tom Dixon, and traditional artifacts brought from their long stay in China,” Hammer says. New and original parquet floors, as shown in the master bedroom, add another layer of character throughout the home.

The master bedroom in Holden Shannon’s unit in Houston’s Row on 25th development features a Nook bed from Blu Dot, a pair of Base table lights by Tom Dixon, and a painting by artist Elva Stewart.

Dawn Farmer sits on the bed in the master bedroom. The white leather bed was designed by Pierre Kozely and manufactured by Della Robbia. The view carries through the master bathroom to the yard on the other side of the house.

The couple, both surfers and beach lovers, wake up to stunning views of the azure-blue Southern Ocean in their otherwise monochromatic eucalyptus master bedroom. Wardle’s firm designed the bed base, and the panel in the ceiling hides a television.

In the master bedroom, a Hästens bed is atop a Mats Broberg & Johan Ridderstråle rug.

“Completing the sequence [of the structure] is the bedroom and bathroom, beyond the barn door threshold, designating them as the least frequently used spaces,” Schaer says. For now, grandparents can use the bedroom when they visit, but the owners also hope to rent it out one day. The George Nelson Bubble Lamp is from Modernica.

In the master bedroom, a Droog Milk Bottle lamp hangs next to a Fluttua Bed designed by Daniele Lago. An artwork by Brooke Westlund hangs over a custom pet door for the client’s dog, Kona.

The master bedroom, painted in Whisper by Comex, sports a bed that Farca custom-designed as part of his EF Collection.
