Alden B. Dow was a master at understanding people and meeting their creative, individual needs by designing environments that enhanced their quality of life. He was the first person to change or modify something if it added to improving the function or beauty of a structure, thereby improving the quality of life for those who inhabited it. Please join us as we experience incredible examples of homes designed by Dow, but updated, modified and renovated by current owners to meet patterns in living while enhancing the design concepts of this master architect and philosopher.

Ultimate Travel Tour:

We are excited to feature three original homes designed by Mr. Dow that have been updated and renovated by the current owners to meet today’s patterns in living and working. Each structure has been updated with careful and thoughtful appreciation of the mid-century modern design that made it unique while at the same time, infusing the personalities and individual ways of living and working of each owner. Careful planning, updated materials, and exceptional craftsmanship are the unifying traits of all three renovations. These renovations of these three homes illustrates how “real housing should be a living, growing part of us.”

You drive to each structure yourself, a change from previous years, and docents are stationed around the homes to give you information about the structure. This is a great way to see the architecture up close and spend time looking and understanding the design and individual elements.

Each guest is allowed 1 entry per residence and may choose the order they visit them in during the 4 hour time frame of 12pm to 4pm. Ultimate Travel Pricing: Adults $30 Students $25.
