When current homeowner Joseph Amory purchased 3322 Ocotea Street in 2014, the 1959 residence’s midcentury plan had been corrupted. Undaunted, Amory enlisted In Situ Studio to modernize the 3,400-square-foot dwelling while preserving its midcentury roots.

The original wood flooring remains in the kitchen and living rooms, while the kitchen was renovated with new surfaces and appliances.

Though the main bones have been kept intact, one of the past owners installed slate flooring in the entryway, hallway, and dining area (shown here), which leads into the lengthy kitchen.

The interior features lossy finished concrete floors and some original globe lights overhead.

The vaulted, post-and-beam ceiling allows the living space to feel larger than it actually is.

If you look carefully, you’ll see sections of stained glass throughout the house, which was possibly created by the original architect.

The quarter-acre lot includes several patio areas and a barbecue, and has plenty of space for a potential pool.
