The three-bedroom, two-bath home at 505 S. Roxbury Drive in Palm Springs has always been a crowd-pleaser. Designed by the pioneering architect William Krisel, the classic midcentury residence was built in 1958 by the Alexander Construction Company—a group responsible for the construction of over 2,000 homes in the Coachella Valley in the 1950s and ’60s. Krisel, acclaimed for his tasteful, affordable home designs, infused this particular property with many of his signature features.

An original brick fireplace divides the living and dining room from the kitchen. Contrasting with an otherwise neutral color palette, pops of blue and yellow add flair to the built-in bookcase.

A home in Krisel's Kings Point development, an 11-acre site off of the Canyon Country Club golf course that was designed in the early 1960s.

Steel beams form a continuous skeleton across the width of the home, extending out to form an overhang and covering a deck off of the kitchen. The great room is an open space running from the main entrance to the kitchen.

The U-shaped, one-level home is composed of two volumes connected by bright orange doors that pop against the dark wood facade.

The exterior features thermally broken windows, a pivot white oak front door and Walden 12-inch LED wall lights in Textured Black Finish from Kichler Lighting.

The living room is warmed by a Morsø 1440 cast-iron stove and features a pair of calfskin folding seats that are original to the house.

Built in 1962, the four-bedroom, two-bath home has already been spruced up with modern features that respect the home’s original midcentury modern character. Highlights include updated bathrooms with Carrara marble and walnut cabinetry, a private backyard, and a renovated kitchen with a pretty impressive "edible garden" off the side.
