The walls and floor are covered in large-format Cerbis Ceramics Frammenti tile. The upper walls have a Wall2Floor Render finish from Adelaide Custom Coatings. The blackbutt vanity by Timberwolf Design sports a Studio Bagno Silo Nucrete basin concrete sink.

“Tōrō House is a study in the harmony of dualities,” says architect Mark English. Inspired by Japanese design, the home harmoniously unites with nature—as seen here in the master bathroom, where the tub overlooks the outdoor space.

"The wash nook in the hallway references the Japanese bathing tradition of having a bath and shower separate to the washbasin and toilet," explain the designers. The separation of spaces is also crucial in this home, which has three bedrooms.

The Aurora Orange front door makes a classic midcentury statement. Clad in vertically laid wooden slats, the exterior previews details found throughout the interior.

The second bathroom has a bathtub.

All of the bathrooms were updated in the home's recent renovation and feature modern fixtures.

The kitchen features a honed Ceasarstone rugged concrete island, concrete backsplash, antique white oak cabinetry, Thermador appliances and tobacco-stained oak base cabinetry.

While limestone is very common in Texas, the Lins went for a crystalized rough cut of limestone to accentuate the smooth concrete floors, Venetian plaster, and polished limestone inside.

One of the biggest challenges was working around the existing trees. "The site slopes downward, so we tried to mediate around that and curve the building so it feels as if it's hugging the trees," Megan Lin says. "It's an integral element of the design."

The backyard is the family's gathering space, with each room opening up to the courtyard.
