MERCI 60
Merci Centro, of the renowned Chef Regina Escalante, opened its doors in Mérida, with a renewal of the brand. The challenge was to take the concept of the first Merci, reinterpreting not only the restaurant, but the materiality and finishes, without losing the basic concept of pairing between French and local cuisine.
The intention was that Merci was more than a restaurant, therefore, we created a space that bet on the experience and the senses. In just 154 m², the program was distributed, and it was decided to establish visual auctions in parallel to the pedestrian flow of the square.
The corner was framed, and the rest of the facade was coated with oxidized steel, which allowed to establish a relation of the materials from a grid. Its external composition elements allow a volume reading similar to coffees in France. The steel coating acts as a skirt gives the scale. The rhythm and repetition is given by the aforementioned grid.
The height and breadth of the space was achieved through holes in the ceiling, which provide a look at its true height and which in turn play as a mirror to its counterpart in the pasta floor.
The furniture and setting provide a scale within the site and provide warmth, supported by lighting and chromatic details. The central furniture in addition to delimiting areas breaks with the monotony and provides a strategic route.
