The custom banquette has a slatted back so as to allow the window behind it to open and let in light. The table is a vintage piece from John and Kelly, made with reclaimed wood from a bowling alley. The overhead pendant is by Brendan Ravenhill.

In the living room, soft-hued seating arranged in a circle is perfect for entertaining. On the far wall, Sunrise Over the Hudson, by Erik Koeppel, competes with the stunning scenery outside. “Charlie was interested in skewered views, like looking straight up at the sky and then out to the woods,” says Rick.

"It’s not uncommon for sellers to throw some new black plastic under the house to conceal any potential water problems,” says Burkholder. “Old leaky pipes are one problem, but a high water level that leaves the crawlspace musty can be an expensive fix as well.”

A massive gable roof makes this two-story house appear as if it’s laid out on a single level.

A custom banquette anchors a vintage table with a Nelson Saucer Bubble Pendant hanging above and vintage Scandinavian sconces rewired for accent lighting on the wall. The banquette’s placement against the wall allows for easy circulation through the room to the rear of the house.

Custom colored cabinetry contrasts with the original brick of the fireplace. The table with the purple metal base is custom, and the pink door leads to the covered workout area under the deck.

The counter and backsplash are made up of a marble slab leftover from a bigger job.

White oak storage wraps the kitchen, which is tucked under the lower ceiling, to create a more cozy spot that’s still connected to the living areas. “It's such a large space,” Erling says of the great room. “It's nice to be more intimate in the kitchen zone.” The counters are Gascogne blue limestone.

“I don’t paint landscapes when I’m here because I can’t compete with the natural beauty,” says Yael.

Fabrikate custom designed the Blackbutt cabinetry in the kitchen, with marble stone on the countertops. The lights above the dining table were found and repurposed.
