Formerly a workshop, the ADU is now a multi-functional space for the family. “In a family of four, it’s nice to have places where people can find a space of their own,” says Campbell.

With no major structural work to do, the design team focused on things like color, and on the exterior they paired Benjamin Moore’s Cabbage Patch green with a front door painted in the company’s Tawny Day Lily. “Kim had a lot of really great people on the project,” Bestor explains, “and that made it possible to go super fast and still be design-y and not just do a white box.”

A loft makes use of the common area's double-height ceiling, which has a telescope for children to use.

The curve of the treatment room's walls add movement to the flow of the house.

A long table acts as an easy gathering place for friends and family, a few steps from the kitchen.

An Eames lounge chair can be found at the fall end of the hallway, at the opening of the primary suite.

The home’s exterior is all new board-and-batten, except where there’s original block. “The battens are two-by-two-inch whitewashed cedar, which gives a different look, depending on the perspective,” says Sven.

The new sun-room addition provides a new entrance for the family, including a mudroom with storage for shoes.

The new side entrance includes a new door through the brick wall, with the glass-enclosed entry hallway extending outward to contain it.

The back patio now offers an outdoor shower, and the mechanical shed has been rebuilt to match the home's architecture.

A vintage chair sits at the desk in the bedroom, which is decorated with a collage of artworks, including a hand-drawn floor plan of the house from the previous owners.

Zellige tiles by Clé clad the wall and hood in the kitchen, which features all new appliances and cabinetry.

White oak rift-and-quartered cabinetry can be found throughout the home to provide ample storage, completed by Carey's Custom Woodworking.
