The redwood elements, including the trellis, help create a sense of “layering” at the home’s exterior. Sustainability is just one of the reasons Lundberg chose to incorporate redwood from Humboldt Sawmill into the design. “Their commitment to sustainably harvesting their redwood forest is something I’ve always supported,” he says. “They are great stewards of the land.”

There are easy lines of sight between the main floor and the upper level.

The couple preserved the original fireplace treatment. A B&B Italia sectional sits atop a Ben Selomani rug with Arne Norell chairs. The large-scale artwork is by Christine.

Replacing a door, the new bookshelf window provides storage while still allowing daylight to enter the office.

Casa Dosmurs is decorated sparsely with furniture by friends and local designers. The couple also collect prints from Benjamín’s brother, who works as a photographer.

The main bedroom overlooks the front steps. Rafael added colorful slat accents over the window to contrast with the otherwise monochromatic scheme.

The owners of this home selected a geometric-patterned glass tile backsplash by Island Stone. The glass tile keeps the space bright, and the pattern adds interest.

A picture window over a custom concrete bench fashions a window seat. “Family, friends, and animals all enjoy the various places to relax in the lounge,” says the homeowner. “The window seat is universally the most prized nook in the home.”
