Lust-Worthy Living Rooms
Ahhh the living room, or should we say the everything room. It's your respite from the world, the place you kick your shoes off and curl up on the couch after a long day, sometimes dinging room, often entertainment room, and even guest room in a pinch. We all want our living rooms to reflect the best of our personal style, after all they are the rooms we really live in, but sometimes we need a little inspiration from others. Here, we've gathered seven of our current favorites to give you some great ideas for your own space.
Karen and Richard Barrow’s waterfront apartment in Cape Town, South Africa, was created by Cécile & Boyd’s. The firm used many furnishings of their own design for the project, including two custom-made
sectional sofas, a wood-and-metal coffee table, a collection of glass vases, and the brass floor lamps. The two natural leather chairs are from B&B Italia.
In the living room, furnishings include a cherry-wood dresser by Rune Bruun Johansen, a vintage wicker lounge chair from Italy, and a Ludvig Pontoppidan settee. The round Lens table is by McCollin Bryan. Lighting includes a circa-1950s Venini Poliedri chandelier and French floral wall sconces from the 1930s. Photos courtesy the Apartment.
In the basement lounge area under the stairs, Lee had a giant sofa is upholstered in 18 Peruvian blankets that JHID collected over several months. The paintings are by Heather Watkins, a Portland artist. The coffee table is custom design in solid fir, which adds a lighter counterpoint to the Benjamin Moore Kendall Charcoal paint used in the alcove.
