The living room retains the home’s original, poured terrazzo floors. There are oversize Fleetwood sliding glass doors on both sides. Most of the original doors have been upgraded to newer, energy-efficient glass, but their size and placement match what was original to the home.
The living room connects to a lanai, blurring the divide between inside and outside.
The master bedroom has a Restoration Hardware bed, wall sconces from Designer Metal Works, and a wall of windows.
The home features concrete floors with radiant heating. A custom folded-steel, double-sided fireplace separates the living room from the dining area. The chandelier is from Restoration Hardware, and the coffee table is custom made.
The new house numbers are the Aurele 6" Matte Black House Numbers from CB2, while the streamlined mailbox is a Wayfair find.
Fields of native grasses connect the main residence, situated at the top of the slope, to the new structures scattered below. A pergola extends from the post-and-beam structure that was maintained during the remodel of the midcentury home.
Farnham squared off the ill-fitting addition and specified large-scale, sliding glass doors from Fleetwood that match the rest of the home and let the breakfast nook open to the exterior. A white Saarinen-style table is surrounded by wooden chairs with woven seats, which were intended to warm the scheme.
A burl dining table is surrounded by ivory chairs and topped with a distinct brass chandelier, all from AllModern. The large-scale landscape is by photographer Lou Mora.
The outside is brought in with double-height NLT (nail-laminated timber) ceilings and automated clerestory windows.
Mount Pleasant Modern: Front Entry Interior
The bathroom features a Brizo Odin shower system and California Faucets. Object & Light pendants hang over the vanity cabinet, and the cabinet drawers are fitted with Made Measure leather tabs.
In the living room, the designers preserved the existing Douglas fir paneling on the ceiling and walls, the fireplace, and the firewood niche. The cooler tones in the sofa from Design Within Reach, rug from Kush Rugs, and knitted poufs from SMG Collective balance out the wood and dial up the cozy factor.
A Les Blakebrough ceramic urn punctuates the concrete fireplace.
According to Farnham: “We selected outdoor furnishings that had elemental geometry and a sculptural quality. We worked with some of my favorite furniture fabricators to customize pieces for this special site: Croft House, James Perse, DWR, and Sutherland.”
According to Samuel, “The family room was stripped down to its barest form in order to take it back to its midcentury roots, while simultaneously propelling it forward to the current century.” The Rivera Sofa, from the Southern California-based Croft House, was chosen for its good looks from front and back, while the coffee table is Samuel's own design, fabricated by 4th Period Woodshop.

A concrete masonry wall divides the dining area from the living room. As in Jon's house, walls of glass open up the living spaces to the millpond.
The heart of Nik's home is a spacious galley kitchen fitted out with precision-cut cabinets, ceramic-coated stainless steel countertops and Siemens appliances.
