“The project was always concerned with the question: How do you create a living space for different tenants to come together?"

A concrete staircase leads to a newly added mezzanine that contains Onur and Alix’s bathroom and a small sauna. A gloss-sealed MDF closet doubles as a headboard for the couple’s floating concrete bed. Behind the closet is the girls’ bedroom and bath.

Most of the furniture in the living room is from London flea markets and eBay.

In the living room, local artwork and an elegant redwood ceiling watch over a side chair by Warren Platner for Knoll and an Easy Edges side chair by Frank Gehry for Vitra.

A green, yellow, blue and white print rug and matching cushion, a pastel pink armchair and plenty of bold geometrical shapes gives this apartment a slick, urbane vibe.

A rocking chair that once belonged to Deb’s grandmother sits next to the plaster fireplace in the living room; concrete floors were poured on-site.

Sayes and Stock furnished their living area with a Slow Chair by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec for Vitra, and a Spar floor light by Jamie McLellan for Resident. A print by Stephen Bambury sits atop a sideboard that Sayes built while studying at the University of Auckland.

In the living room, an Eames lounge chair is matched with a Richard Conover–designed fiberglass chair in similar proportions. A custom coffee table by Asher Israelow com-plements the industrial lighting by Workstead, affixed to walls painted in Farrow and Ball’s Manor House Gray. The sliding doors leading into the home office were fabricated by Markus Bartenschlager.

The living room is anchored by a sofa and lounge chair, both by Børge Mogensen, as well as a Conoid bench by George Nakashima. An Isamu Noguchi pendant lamp casts a warm glow onto the Brasilia coffee table, designed by Claesson Koivisto Rune for Swedese.

In the living room, layers of plaster were removed to expose the original brick fireplace surround, and a brick step was added; the black metal gas insert is by Heat & Glo. The open living-and-bedroom area of Ian Hague’s rural retreat can be divided by a wall that rises from within the master-suite platform. Interior designer Elaine Santos blended her client’s collection of vintage furniture with no-fuss pieces like a Shaker-style bench by Ilse Crawford for De La Espada.

The wood-and-brick structure, painted white with a cheery orange doors, embodies quintessential Palm Springs architecture with a fresh, contemporary twist. Tongue-and-groove ceilings with exposed beams, an original fireplace, and clerestory windows round out the midcentury charm. Buyers can choose to purchase the furnishings as well, which are minimalist with Southwestern-inspired textures.

Aulenti bought her apartment and office at the same time in 1973 and reconfigured them to connect via a doorway on the top floor. Aulenti’s family is now considering using the space, which is still as she left it, as the headquarters of her official archives. The sofa is covered in a textile that Aulenti picked up on her travels, and her Festo table—designed for Zanotta—sports a custom felt top.

Inside, white paint lightens up the middle of the building. A vintage Danish dining set and Cloud pendants by Frank Gehry for Vitra define the dining area.
