The custom kitchen cabinets are made of pale guatambú wood, also known as pau marfim. The architects chose light hues for all interior and exterior surfaces to counter the dark green and brown colors of the forest.
The oak island and cupboards offset the kitchen’s black IKEA cabinetry.
A sunken library houses Paul’s extensive Jane Austen collection. Built-in walnut seating, also by Lutz Wood, is covered in Cortina Leathers cushions. A 1960s Hungarian tapestry hangs nearby.
A large hidden open-air scullery centers the main living area. Hygge Design + Build covered the cube with a paneling system of white oak and black aluminum trim to give it some detail and break up the monolith.
