Mike chose a chic fixture from In Common Width to illuminate the space. “They’re wonderful handmade lights,” he says. A light boucle stool from CB2 makes for a perfect perch.

The café’s polished concrete floors are ground down to “expose some of the aggregate,” Mike says. Vintage leather chairs balance a custom banquette, upholstered in a forest-green wool felt by Kravet.

The former upstairs bedroom is now an office. The existing flooring was kept.

In one of several distinct outdoor spaces, a pink terrazzo tub creates an oasis under the palms.

A locally made plywood bed frame with built-in drawers rests under Sheet Society linens and a Città throw.

“I don’t paint landscapes when I’m here because I can’t compete with the natural beauty,” says Yael.

Yanki and Yael (pictured), both from Israel, have lived in idyllic locales before—notably a home in Usonia, the forested community planned by Frank Lloyd Wright and his followers—but none, in their estimation, compares to this one. In the kitchen, a Wall Lamp by Workstead hangs above the Terrazzo countertops by Kaza.

The kitchen lights were designed by August and custom-made by a local glass blower.
