When American author and television personality Ted Allen moved into his 1870 Victorian Brownstone with his husband, interior designer Barry Rice, in Brooklyn, New York, the house came with a lot of unique details still intact, including old beautiful banisters, pocket shutters, and wooden floors. To pay homage to the historic characteristics yet still integrate modern flair, Ted notes: “We wanted to design an efficient, capable kitchen but have it blend in with the existing wood.”
Renton Hill House features an open floor plan and a natural palette of steel, concrete, and walnut. Citizen Design Collaborative strategically integrated original and modern details to create a unique home. The house is designed to bring people together and age beautifully as it's passed down through generations.
