The ground floor is 440 square feet, complete with angled walls, a sitting area, and kitchen.

In the kitchen, an 11-foot island is topped with Carrara marble and lined with Molar Stools from Blackman Cruz. All of the casework was done by Pacassa Studios.

Hess combined a John Boos butcher-block table with a piece carved by local wood sculptor Vince Skelly to create a sculptural kitchen island. "As soon as [Skelly] brought that in there, [Charlie and Todd's] little daughter hopped up on it and owned it. So, that's where she hangs out in the kitchen," says Hess.

Ellie installed the Étoffe wallpaper over the banquette seat.

The couple added a comfortable seating area with a tufted banquette in the corner, custom-built by their contractor. The pendant over the table is from Lulu and Georgia, and the chairs are from All Modern.

Off of the kitchen, the cozy dining area features a pendant from Twenty One Tonnes, canvas wall art from Upton, circular wood wall art from Brian Grasela, and dining chair from Hati Home.

The revamped kitchen features custom walnut cabinetry by Stille Home—all made from a fallen walnut tree from Leah and Kyle’s last project. All of the home’s cabinets and custom built-ins were the result of a close collaboration between Leah and Kyle. “It’s rare to find a builder who can instantly understand the wild ideas in my head, and bring them to life even more beautiful than I imagined,” says Leah.

The kitchen's appliances are Miele and the cabinetry is handcrafted.

While the renovations maintained the bones, the entire home was modernized, including updating the kitchen appliances.

The kitchen cabinetry is fashioned from oak and the island is quartz.

We felt more freedom then to make the kitchen fit but do it the way we needed to do it with a lot of comfort.

The house has the feel of a refined barn: The kitchen flows into the dining area, then into a den. The two PISE “chimneys” serve to demarcate the transitions and visually unite the space.
